ANNA NOVIKA SOBIERAJSKI
Visual Artist
Born in 1972 in Łódź, Poland

The artist has been drawing for as long as she can remember. The traces left by a multiplicity of tools on paper contribute to the construction of her own universe and to the affirmation of her identity.
She is deeply moved by the simplicity of this fragile support: inscribed in time, it bears the marks of use and wear. Even the humble, everyday BIC pen cannot resist time. This precariousness is an integral part of her practice.
Drawing belongs to a realm of intimacy and to an almost meditative repetition of gesture, often vertical. Verticality allows movement to rebound and begin again, whereas horizontality — too extended — escapes domestication.
The artist also enjoys experimenting with new tools and techniques, in a space situated between drawing, printmaking, and painting.
